Scott vs Oldham

In a matchup of old 8th Region rivals, Scott County, now of the 11th Region, took on the Oldham County Colonels in game two of the opening session. Scott County came in as the number one team in the state, the ones with the giant "X" on their backs. And they delivered. They sprinted out to a quick lead and never looked back, turning the first half into a track meet, and took a 36 to 15 lead into the half. The Cards were led by Tyler Portwood's 10 points and 5 rebounds coming off the bench, earning him Super Sub of the Game honors. Scott County's backcourt duo of Matt Walls and Bud Mackey combined for 18 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists in three quarters of duty. The Cardinals led by as many as 29 in the third quarter, but Oldham County chipped away at it as Billy Hicks started going to his bench. A solid game for Scott County defensively as they held Oldham to 36% shooting from the field and forced 26 turnovers. After halftime, Scott County used their athleticism to pull away from the overmatched Colonels en route to a 59-47 victory to put them in the quarterfinals tomorrow afternoon against Adair County.
